6 Top Destinations for Viewing Fireworks
With the pandemic lightening and the widespread availability of the vaccine, many states, cities, and counties have decided to move forward with their 2021 4th of July fireworks displays. So why not make it a road trip? Hop in your car and go watch the fireworks and another city! Here’s a few destinations where you can celebrate the 4th. Check each destination and CDC safety guidelines on group gatherings and pandemic safety measures.
Boston
The Boston’s Pops July Spectacular normally takes place along the Charles River. This year, out of precaution for safety and social distancing concerns, and with CDC guidance, the main events will be divided. The Boston Symphony Orchestra Concert will take place at the Tanglewood Music Venue in Lenox, Massachusetts. The fireworks will take place at Boston Commons.
Lake Tahoe
If you prefer something smaller, but still spectacular, consider Lake Tahoe. Local businesses and residents have raised funds to put on this year’s South Lake Tahoe fireworks show. The show will start around 9:20 p.m., launching from the room of the Michael Laub building in the Stateline corridor. The celebration will include live music, DJ’s and more.
Nashville
Nashville’s Let Freedom Sing 4th of July celebration is anticipated to be the largest fireworks show in Nashville history. There will be food, drinks, and several stages with live music performances. The fireworks show will be visible from multiple locations around the city including Riverfront Park, Public Square Park, the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge, the Music City Walk of Fame Park and more.
New York City
This year, NYC will be celebrating it’s 45th Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks and it promises to be the biggest one yet! The plan is to have a 25 minute, 65,000 shell show from barges lining the East River. This show can be seen from Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens so whichever burrow you choose to visit, you can take part in this extravaganza.
Philadelphia
What better place to view a 4th of July fireworks show than Philadelphia where the creation and signing of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution took place. For the first time ever, this show will celebrate both Juneteenth and the 4th of July together. The annual Wawa Welcome America show will have live events, performances and a fireworks show over the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Washington, DC
The U.S. National Park Service is one again hosting the Capitol 4th celebration on the National Mall. While in Washington, DC, you can enjoy our national memorials and other recreational activities. The fireworks start shortly after 9:00 p.m. with a 17-minute show launching from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Pro Tip: The Capitol 4th fireworks can be seen from many areas in the DC Metropolitan area including the FDR Memorial Bridge, the Jefferson Memorial, West Potomac and East Potomac Park, Anacostia Park, The GW Parkway and more.
